Writer’s block will hit you throughout your content creation and blog career more than you will ever like to admit, so if there is one piece of advice I can give you it is this: create when you feel inspired so you have content to fall back on when you are feeling uninspired.
Being a content creator for fourteen years has hit me with so many bouts of writer’s block but none have been as bad as it has been throughout 2020. I know I should cut myself some slack because as well as so many personal and family issues happening this year, we’ve all been trying to navigate a global pandemic and we’re all just doing our best. That isn’t to say that I haven’t found it frustrating. In a summer where I had so much planned when it came to creating, inspiring and serving my audience what I came up with was a big fat nothing. I found lockdown inspired me greatly, being home, being cut off from the rest of the world and only being with my little family was the easiest part but when the world started to open up I really struggled and it has taken me all summer to get my creativity back.
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need
When it came to creativity this year I really didn’t know how to get it back, but apparently all I needed was a weekend with my thoughts and ideas and I would be well on my way. This year, as I mentioned, has been tough and raising a toddler through a pandemic hasn’t been the easiest in this house, but I asked my husband if I could have the long weekend to myself at the end of August and that solved everything. He had our daughter the entire weekend so that I could just focus on work and it felt amazing. If you need a break to find your creativity don’t be afraid to ask. For me it was the difference between not being able to find my inspiration and being inspired once more.
Accept that it is inevitable
Although going through periods of creativity blocks is never easy, especially when it is your job or passion to create, but one of the best things you can do is accept it is inevitable. Create blog content (or any content) when you feel creative and rest when you can’t find your inspiration. The worse thing you can do is force it so go with it when you have it and don’t beat yourself up about it when you don’t.
Help is at hand
I know how hard it can be so I have created a free resource that you can refer to when you need some blog content inspiration. You can use these titles in any way you wish and it might just help you get out of your head and get some words on paper.
[convertkit form=1639312]Like I said, the best thing you can do is go with it. You won’t always feel creative and that’s ok. Creating isn’t easy so I like to look at it as when I have gone through a period of creating my whole being just needs some time off. Take some time, do activities, or visit places that inspire you, don’t be afraid to ask for what you need and know that this too shall pass.
